Youth Center – Youth Center – Jaber Al-Ahmad Sports Center

Location: Kuwait

The Youth Center – Jaber Al Ahmed is one of Kuwait’s most iconic and large-scale public developments, located at the heart of the country and dedicated to youth development, recreation, and community engagement. This landmark governmental project brings together a diverse mix of facilities, including sports complexes, indoor and outdoor arenas, retail spaces, educational zones, and dedicated youth hubs.

The YOUTH SPORTS CENTER contains a stadium for 1000 people, an Olympic sized covered swimming pool, a football & basketball playground, an auditorium, tennis & volleyball courts, lecture halls, activities halls, restaurants and cafeterias. This center has a built-up area of 22,000 m2 and it is located in Jaber Al Ahmad City.

The architectural concept features a circular central plaza and a welcoming entrance courtyard, creating a strong sense of arrival and openness. The project’s urban planning philosophy focuses on providing a shared community ground that balances physical activities—represented through sports and recreation—with mental, intellectual, and educational development, supporting the aspirations of Kuwait’s younger generation.

Building Management System & Energy Optimization

The entire facility is monitored and controlled using a state-of-the-art, German-engineered DEOS Building Management System (BMS), designed to ensure energy efficiency, operational reliability, and optimal indoor comfort across this large and complex multi-building development.

DEOS System Architecture

  • Controllers: DEOS flagship OPEN Series native BACnet/IP controllers, deployed across all buildings
  • Central Monitoring & Control: DEOS OPENweb, an advanced BACnet workstation acting as the central command and control center

Systems Managed

The DEOS BMS provides comprehensive control and monitoring of major mechanical and plant systems, including:

  • A large number of Air Handling Units (AHUs)
  • Fan Coil Units (FCUs)
  • Variable Air Volume (VAV) systems
  • Ventilation and exhaust fans
  • Water-cooled chiller plant integrated with a Thermal Energy Storage (TES) tank

Advanced control strategies ensure plant and HVAC systems operate at optimal efficiency under varying occupancy and usage patterns, delivering stable comfort while minimizing energy consumption.

This implementation positions the Youth Center – Jaber Al Ahmed as a benchmark smart public facility in Kuwait, combining intelligent building automation with community-focused design and sustainable operations.
